Swami Brahmanand was born on 4th December, 1984 at Hamirpur district in Uttar Pradesh, he join the freedom movement in 1918 and was jailed a number of because his participation in Namak Satyagrah, Non-cooperation Movement and Quit India Movement. During this period he was closely associated with Mahatma Gandhi, Pt. Jawahar Lal Nehru, Pt. Govind Ballabh Pant, Dr. Swaroopanand, Lala Lajpat Rai, Shri Ganesh Shankar Vidyarthi and other architects of the country’s independence.
After independence Swami Brahmanand represented Hamirpur in the Lok Sabha from 1967 to 1977. In his ideology he was influenced by Mahatma Gandhi, Dr Ram manohar Lohiya, Dr Bhim Rao Ambedkar in particular. He always worked for the emancipation of the economically deprived sections of the society and for eradication of creed. He believed in the universality of religion and in a classless society.
Swami Ji’s life was an illustration of the principles he stood for. Through his primary role was that of a social reformer, he also worked for establishment of teaching institutions such as Brahmanand Inter College, (1938), Brahmanand Sanskrit Mahavidyalay (1943) and Brahmanand Mahavidyalay (1960). Working selflessly for the welfare of society, Swami Ji passed away on 13th September 1984.
The College aims at imparting education to all sections of the society regardless of gender, socio-economic conditions and caste. It believes that quality education will help them in becoming independent and integral part of the society who contributes towards the development of the country.
